Save Money By Shopping On Ebay -
by Daniel Millions
Online shopping websites like eBay have made finding bargains
easier than ever. On eBay, millions of sellers list auctions
for new and used products, and buyers bid against each other
in auctions. You can literally find anything on eBay; there
are even sections of the site for cars and real estate. It
is no longer necessary to shop around to find savings, as
they are all collected in one place.
New and used products populate eBay, and unless you absolutely
need something new, it is best to always buy used products.
Once something is used, its monetary value is automatically
cut almost in half, even if it works as-if new. By acknowledging
this, you can save a cumulative hundreds of dollars on everything
you buy. There is no reason to purchase new DVDs, video games,
or other similar merchandise when a used copy will operate
just the same.
The process of bidding has evolved drastically since it was
first introduced. To make bidding easier, one can utilize
a system known as proxy bidding. With this technique, users
enter the maximum amount they would be willing to pay for
something. Doing this frees you from having to consistently
return to the auction page to outbid other buyers.
For example, say you are trying to purchase something for
which the current price is at $20. You can enter your maximum
bid as $40, yet the auction will only increase to $21 (if
the minimum bidding increment is one dollar). If nobody else
bids, you win the auction for $21. If other people attempt
to win, your bid will automatically increase until somebody
else bids over $40.
When the clock is running down on an auction, intense bidding
wars sometimes arise. Only a short time ago, bidding was a
three-step process which could take as long as thirty seconds,
which is a lot when only a short time remains before the end
of a listing. Ebay recently implemented a new feature called
One-Click Bid which enables users to make bids incredibly
quickly and immediately see when they have been outbid. The
tool is especially good for sellers, since it increases competition
and ultimately the final price.
As if single items on eBay were not cheap enough, you can
save even more money when you buy items in bulk. Instead of
spending time finding individual items, you can locate just
one listing with everything you need. While it may take awhile
to identify that special listing, you still save more time
than if you bought everything separately, and of course there
is the monetary incentive as well. Many people have even made
careers out of the economies of scale concept. They win bulk
listings and then sell products individually.
Ebay has become a cultural phenomenon for reasons in addition
to being a great place to save money. Creative individuals
have found ways to make money from eBay without actually selling
any products, or at least selling products that have essentially
no real worth. We have all heard of items with religious or
celebrity figures imprinted on them selling for ridiculous
amounts.
One man set up an auction in which he stated the winning
bidder could tell him what religious service to attend, and
not surprisingly, the auction sold for an excellent amount.
If you can come up with the next big eBay idea, it could make
you rich.
